Graduation Requirements

Essential Criteria For Academic Success

Students must satisfy the following academic requirements in order to be eligible for a JD degree:
  1. Successful completion of 88 credits, 64 of which are earned in courses that meet in regularly scheduled law school classes. Credits earned in independent studies, law review and moot court, and courses in joint-degree programs do not count towards the 64-credit requirement. 
  2. Minimum cumulative G.P.A. (grade point average) of 2.30 or above.
  3. Successful completion of all required courses taken in sequence.
  4. Successful completion of six experiential learning credits (LAWE).
  5. Successful completion of two designated writing courses (LAWW).
  6. Successful completion of 20 hours of pro bono law, details here.
  7. Successful completion of one Anti-Racism and Cultural Competency course (LAWA). This requirement only applies to students entering in Fall 2022 or later.
  8. A student may not take more than 44 credits in classes that meet online.
  9. Student must be in good standing.
