The Office of Institutional Research and Planning provides data gathering, analytical, and consulting services related to key functional areas of the University, including:

Additionally, the Office is responsible for reporting to external agencies and college guide services, including:
- the National Center for Education Statistics (IPEDS)
- the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Graduation Rate Report and Financial Aid Data Management System)
- the New England Board of Higher Education
- US News and World Report
- the College Board's Annual Survey of Colleges
- more than three dozen additional college guide, professional organization, and accreditation-related surveys
