Department of Public Safety

The Department of Public Safety provides a full range of safety and crime prevention services, including:

  • 24-hour police patrols on foot, mountain bikes, and in cruisers;
  • 357 surveillance cameras throughout campus;
  • Fire and environmental safety efforts;
  • 33 Emergency phones throughout campus;
  • Medical first responders.

The Department also facilitates educational programs on a number of topics, including alcohol and drug use, personal safety, and fire safety.

Student Patrol

Student Patrollers work in conjunction with uniformed Campus Police staff to provide a more secure campus by acting as "eyes and ears." Patrollers conduct foot a bicycle patrols in teams of two, at night, in all types of weather conditions.

Title IX

Western New England University is committed to providing an environment that is free from harassment, discrimination, and violence. To that end, the University works to ensure compliance with Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally-funded education programs and activities.

Crime Report

Western New England University encourages the timely reporting of crimes to University Police for investigation. Data on criminal offenses occurring on campus and surrounding public property is reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation utilizing the Uniform Crime Reporting System.
