Throughout the year, IPE organizes numerous events to promote cultural awareness on campus. We develop programs that cater to our current students but also are educational in nature. IPE holds the International Welcome Reception on a bi-annual basis (usually the second Wednesday of September and January). This event welcomes new students and scholars to campus to give them the opportunity to meet current students, staff, and faculty. Come for the friendship, food, music, a raffle, and fun!
The club is a great opportunity to meet with other students, learn about different cultures on campus, and have fun! The club meets every other week and has different events going on throughout the year. Feel free to join us for meetings or events. Email isss@wne.edu for meeting times and locations.
One World Cafe is held two times per semester with a different theme, food, trivia, and prizes each time!
IPE and Spiritual Life organize the university’s celebration each fall (the date changes based on the Hindu lunar calendar). Also known as the Festival of Lights, it is one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism and signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. We celebrate with a presentation, lots of food, music, dancing, and fun to honor our Hindu community!
International Education Week is typically the third week of November and is a great opportunity to try food from around the world, learn about other cultures, plan your study abroad trip, and more! Activities include a study abroad photo contest, international desert tasting, a study abroad fair, henna tattoos, etc.

Held in late April, the university’s annual Kite Festival began in 2014 as a way for students to have fun and participate in a relaxing activity before finals. Kite Festivals happen all over the world and the tradition dates back to the 19th century. Our Kite Festival draws inspiration from the , a seasonal celebration in the Middle East and India where people gather to welcome the coming of spring. We dance to lively music, eat delicious food, fly kites (provided by Western New England University), and celebrate the arrival of spring!
