Working in the U.S.

International students are generally permitted to work part-time on-campus as long as you are maintaining your F-1 or J-1 status.

Travel & Reentry

F-1 and J-1 students in the U.S. need to be aware of several things when returning to the U.S.

Driving in the U.S.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts allows some international students and scholars to use their home country license to drive while in the U.S. provided certain conditions are met.

Taxes

ALL international students and scholars in the U.S. are required to file some type of U.S. tax form.

Culture Shock and U.S. Culture

Most people traveling outside of their own countries experience a level of culture shock—the process of adjusting to a new country and new culture. Even people who have lived in numerous countries experience culture shock every time they go to a new place. Given time, culture shock will lessen.
