The online Master of Arts in Mathematics for Teachers program is designed primarily for secondary and middle school teachers, providing an alternative to a traditional master’s in education. Non-teaching professionals seeking an advanced degree in mathematics are also encouraged to apply for admission. What Will You Study?

The Master of Arts in Mathematics for Teachers is a content-based program consisting of 10 graduate courses (30 credits). The content is linked to the state Mathematics Curriculum Framework when possible. You will have the option to take courses in discrete mathematics, geometry, calculus, number theory, linear algebra, analysis, abstract algebra, probability, and statistics. Special topics courses are also offered in mathematics of origami, mathematics of symmetry, and cryptology.

Flexibility and Convenience

The MAMT program can be completed 100% online. The synchronous format uses free, online software that allows for an interactive classroom experience that fosters a community among participants. Courses are offered year-round through our academic calendar that includes two 15-week semesters (Fall and Spring) and one 8- or 12-week semester in the Summer. Classes will typically take place from 4:00-5:50 p.m. or 6:00-7:50 p.m. Our professors will be available to support you through­out your program and will hold virtual as well as in-person office hours for those who can come to campus.
