The Master of Science in Industrial Engineering program is a versatile advanced degree open to graduates from a wide range of engineering disciplines. Whether you are interested in full-time study or you are a working professional pursuing your studies part-time, our graduate term structure will allow you to accelerate your studies. The program can be finished in as little as one year studying full-time and as few as 21 months studying part-time. Our flexible delivery model will allow you to complete your studies online or face-to-face in the classroom.

Industrial engineering is a growing field with applications in a wide range of areas. This program enables students with their foundation in this field or numerous other engineering disciplines to build upon it with advanced knowledge and skills in optimization, systems, quality, and cost analysis. With this versatility, students will be well prepared to take their careers in many directions. What Will You Study?

You will take 9 credits of core courses in topics ranging from Advanced Engineering Statistics, Production, and Inventory Modeling with an additional 3 credits in a core concentration, and 12-15 credits of approved electives. For the remaining credits, there are two options: Non-Thesis Option IE680 (3 cr) for a 30-credit program total or the Thesis Option IE-698-699 (6 cr) for a 30-credit program total. Students must select a faculty advisor and have a plan of study approved before completing 12 credits. At least 6 courses in a plan of study must be 600 or higher level.

On Campus or Online Hybrid Options

Work, family, and other commitments can make it difficult to find the right time to fit in an advanced degree. That’s why all MS in Industrial Engineering classes are “hybrid” which allows students to be online or in class seamlessly. In-class evening sessions take place on our beautiful, accessible campus. Online courses are delivered through Kodiak, our easy to use learning management system.

Flexible Study at Your Own Pace

With multiple entry points throughout the year, you can pursue your studies at a pace that fits the demands of your career and lifestyle. Full- and part-time options are available, so you decide what time-frame works for you to complete your program. If you’re not sure about committing to a full master’s program, you can begin your studies through one of our graduate certificate programs. The certificates are typically completed in one year, and do not require admission into the master’s program. Your certificate credits can eventually count toward your master’s.
